Basteria
Basteria is the scientific journal of the Dutch Malacological Society. The journal’s name is derived from the famous 18th-century scientist Job Baster. The website of the Dutch Malacological Society is www.spirula.nl.
The journal is published biennially. Original articles on malacological topics are welcome in Basteria. Topics include taxonomy, systematics, faunistics, (paleo)ecology, (paleo)biogeography, conservation and anatomy. Articles can be submitted by both members and non-members to manuscripts@basteria.nl
Articles are first judged by the editorial board and are subsequently send out for peer review. Accepted manuscripts will receive a ZooBank number.

Three supplements of Basteria have been published. These are:

- Basteria Supplement 3 (2006). https://www.spirula.nl/index-basteria-supplement-3-festschrift-hans-kuiper-2006/ To commemorate the 90th birthday of the prominent malacologist and NMV member Hans Kuiper, a special Basteria supplement was published. All articles are dedicated to Hans Kuiper. During the members’ meeting on April 8, 2006, NMV chairman Ruud Bank presented the first copy to Hans Kuiper, who gratefully accepted it. This supplement was compiled by an ad hoc editorial team consisting of Rob Moolenbeek, Jeroen Goud, and Henry Coomans, and was made possible in part by donations from members. Single issues can be ordered from the librarian, Rob Moolenbeek. PRICE: €5.00 excluding shipping costs.
Two celebratory volumes have also been published as special issues:
Special issue: Festschrift Edi Gittenberger (2008) Vol. 72, nos. 4-6 (2008) is a Festschrift dedicated to Prof. Dr. Edmund (Edi) Gittenberger, on the occasion of his 65th birthday. This extra-thick issue contains 32 articles by authors from the Netherlands and abroad. The first copy was presented to Edi Gittenberger during a special symposium organized by the NMV on September 27, 2008. This supplement was compiled by an editorial team consisting of A.C. van Bruggen, J. Goud, B. Kokshoorn, M. Schilthuizen, D. Uit de Weerd, and T. de Winter. PRICE: €5.00 excluding shipping costs.
Special issue: Festschrift Rob Moolenbeek (2016) Vol. 80, nos. 1-3 (2016) is a Festschrift dedicated to Rob Moolenbeek on the occasion of his retirement. This extra-thick issue (143 pages) contains 15 articles by authors from the Netherlands and abroad. The first copy was presented to Rob Moolenbeek during a theme day on the Dutch Caribbean organized by the NMV on October 8, 2016. PRICE: €7.50 excluding shipping.
